Please help.!cant see what people write to me!..!?

when somebody sends me an instant message,.....on my yahoo messanger...at the bottom of messanger screen i can see a message :"'xyz" is typing a message" and' message recieved at............" BUT i cant see the mesage.... the window remains blank! i have tried rebooting ...it doest help ! what shud i do?
