Why do you have to pay to list your profile on yahoo personals?

it seems silly to me... you have to not only admit to yourself that you are having a tough time meeting someone in the usual places, then you have to "pay" to see IF there is anyone you might be interesting in a not so usual place? yea... i am a single girl looking for love... but i don't want to have to pay for it!! how about you??
