Why should I care about Global Warming, it won't affect me?

You may think it won't affect you-- but indirectly it will. Taxes will increase as the federal government will need more money to respond to natural disasters that will likely increase in frequency and intensity with global climate change. There will be more money needed to fortify the coastline and prevent coastal towns from going underwater (ex. New Orleans today). There could likely be an influx in immigration to the United States, as millions of "climate refugees", those fleeing dangerous conditions elsewhere in the world because the region can't adapt, come to the United States. Economic harm when coastal towns lose their appeal because beaches are eroded, the coral reefs are gone, and fisheries have collapsed. We may start fighting over the world's most precious resource, water. THat means more money for war and more people in combat. Warmer temperatures= more bugs = more mosquito borne diseases (malaria, anyone?). Rising healthcare costs. There are tons of socioeconomic impacts to climate change that the average citizen can care about.
